Proud of my little girl!

She never liked school. Smart as a whip but school never challenged her enough.

So after a series of events starting with a broke truck on vacation and the subsequent commercial flight to pick it up after repairs, turns out my little girl was fascinated with flight. She already flew the drone. Then she got her drone license and latched on to all the aviation jargon. After high school she didn't really want to attend college but I made her since it was paid for. She got a job working in flight operations with a local helicopter company flying to offshore oil rigs. She loved it. She signed up with the local fixed wing flight school since she works next door to the air port. Work was great and at 20 years old she was promoted to the first management level over operations. Yesterday evening, 21 years old and 1 day, she made her first solo flight in the little Vans RV12 with excellent weather conditions (except for summer temps). It took a little while but she finally found her passion!

Now, if we can save enough coins for a decommissioned C-130, we'll be able to fly our machines to go riding!!
Years ago I had a Dirtbike Magazine with an article about a group of pilots that did this very thing so they could go riding all over the world.

Congratulations to her! I'd say finding her passion at 21 years old is a win.

Love this. To this day, I still kick myself in the ass for not going that route with my life. From the time I was a kid, I always wanted to be a pilot. Wanted to go the Air Force route, but parents wouldn't let me. Settled for the idea of being a commercial airline pilot, but, sitting in Mrs. Wally's Chemistry class on September 11, 2001, I got to watch those towel headed F'ers knock the bottom out of the airline industry. So, I settled into healthcare. Now, of course, the airline industry has rebounded and Commercial captains are raking in $400k+ per year and I'm over here dealing with retards.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Ah well, I still plan on working on my PPL within the next year.

This is such an awesome story. Congrats to your daughter. Flying airplanes is a wonderful life. However, it can be a challenging career. I was fortunate; I flew fighters for 20 years in the Air Force (F-15s) and then 23 years @ FEDEX. It was a fantastic career and I don't regret one minute of it.
