I had an extra fairlead laying around so I'm trying a new idea for my snow plow lift so far it is working well. Can you see any future problems? Pulling from the bottom of the winch plate straight up. My plow is a Denali Highway

I would think it would work very well. A thing I have done and have been very pleased with, is using a heavier tow strap to lift the plow. I just took a 12' harbor freight tow strap and cut it in half. I then took the winch hook and line stopper off, and attached my flat strap to the synthetic line, thus leaving it on in case I needed it. There was enough room in my winch windings to have both on there. The strap seems very tough and can take the severe angle better, and after a season and a half I only broke it once.

That looks like a good idea. You have eliminated all of the stress of bending and friction on the cable caused by the fairlead. I really like the idea of a flat strap on the winch drum for plowing. With your setup that would be indestructible

Brilliant idea, I will be following suit when I get off my lazy but to install my winch and pull out the plow from my shed or a day when it's not blistering cold out lol
