bought mine used (80 hrs on clock) changed the oil at 100hrs and found out I dont have a skid plate is this a add on or do some come without one ?????
No. It came with one.

The center was steel, while the front and rear diff ones are that plastic stuff. Some heavy duty aftermarket stuff available.

Take the opportunity to put a good skid plate on it. Trail Armor is a vendor here. Their skids are good.

Think i'll make mine 3/16th plate steel is enough right? I can drill and tap frame counter sink bolt heads. Any suggestions...better than spending $300 or more

That should be plenty strong enough. The poly ones do a decent job already.

I get saving money but I wouldn’t go all steel. I wouldn’t want the rust and metal on metal that will come with it over time. After three pioneers and two trail armor skid plates I can without hesitation, when I buy another rig it will have another UHMW skid.
