I put the newer stock shocks on my 2015. Starting in 2017 they went to dual coil springs. It was a noticeable improvement from the original shocks, soaked up bumps better, not much but noticeable, I'd say they helped, say on a 0 to 10 scale, 0 being no suspension, and 10 a Cadillac, stock shocks had me at 3, and the new dual coil shocks made it a 4 maybe 5. Then I went to 4 Walker Evans shocks, was disappointed they only helped about the same % as the new dual coil Honda shocks, but I called W.E. and they offered to re-valve my shocks, I sent them back, they now soak up bumps better, but if I had known they helped less than I thought, I wouldn't have spent the money, I would have stayed with the updated Honda dual coil springs, I think 4 of them cost me about $400. I have 8 Honda shocks laying around doing nothing.I have a 2015 P500. There is a guy I can buy 2017 one shocks for $150. Is it worth it? Are the shocks that much better than the 2015?

Really confused about the strap thing, there are several shock companies, that use the straps to limit how far the shock extends. I have never seen straps used on dirt bike shocks. I think the strap technology comes from desert racing. Does the 814 have high & low speed dampening and rebound adjustments? Here’s a screen shot of a install on a P1k5

Been riding the mower for almost 2 hours thinking about the straps, Only thing I can come up with is they use the same shock for different applications and use the strap for a limit?Really confused about the strap thing, there are several shock companies, that use the straps to limit how far the shock extends. The straps keep the shocks from over extending and breaking. In turn, they also keep your CV shafts from being over extended.
These shocks are not built like yours, they will not withstand being over extended.
Only straps I want in my S x S is my wife bra straps and I prefer her to remove them! HA!The straps keep the shocks from over extending and breaking. In turn, they also keep your CV shafts from being over extended.

Is there an advantage to this design? The straps keep the shocks from over extending and breaking. In turn, they also keep your CV shafts from being over extended.

Cheaper and easier to manufacture. less parts equals cheaper for consumer. Is there an advantage to this design?
