Changed my oil today after dealer did first service. Pulled my filter cover to discover that they did not reinstall the spring. Anyone else see this?

Nope. Are you certain the spring didn't drop into the skid plate without you seeing it? They're relatively small and might not make enough racket for you to notice it.

No way I missed it. Been changing oil on hondas for years.

I bet you had to order one as it's probably not real common for a dealer to stock those springs.
Not sure what kind of issues you could run into. Hopefully not any oil starvation.

Isn't that spring supposed to add tension to the filter to help it seal against the block? Without it, I'd expect some amount of oil to bypass the filter. Going to be an interesting discussion with the dealer...

They did take one off of another bike. Doesn't seem to be any problems. It just blew me away thinking what might have happened.

How can you check oil filter springs behind the dealer?
Wouldn't that spill the fresh new oil?

I drove the bike for 10 months with it like this. That's why I was shocked. Could have cost me an engine.
