P1000 Shackle on OEM front bumper

for those that have shackles mounted on their front bumper, how much pulling have you done on them? I got a few shackles recently and trying to decide on a mount. But before I go through all that, id like to know how well the bumper will hold up.

I welded ours on and through the bumper to the bumper mounts. I'm sure you could pull anything the winch can put out

I pulled on mine with a snatch block. Probably not the full winch rating but over 4k for sure. I also used mine as a front trailer tie down.

Put an extra mounting plate behind the bumper to bolt through. The steel on the bumper isn't the thickest.

Fat fender washers backing them, pulled me out of a mud hole using a snatch block. Don't know that I'd go tugging and yanking on them too much though.

That’s exactly what I did and have had no issues!

I’ve stalled a Warn 4000 lb winch using dual batteries and a snatch block. Also they are great tie down attachment points.

Not sure what style im gonna go with yet, but I like all these. Either gonna go with the cable clamp, or one of these from ebay im guessing. No welding skills here with a real welder (flux core is all i got)

Im leaning towards those as well. Others are using cable clamps and having success. My only concern is pulling on an angle with that compared to having the plate.

These are plenty strong for what our machines weigh, a lot stronger than what they're bolted to and can be had for less than $10 each around here. As mentioned use a support plate behind the bumper and IMO stay close to the the factory tubes that make the bumper mounts.

That's how we mounted them, as close to the tube that goes inside the frame. I would suggest drilling the holes a 1/4 from center line of the backing plates. That way you can flip them around side to side or end over end to get it as close to that tube as possible. Also I drilled them while clamped together to make sure they worked in any position or side.

You will want something to dampen the noise! @nbomar said they were noise. We just ran a tie wrap between the pivot point and tha helped, maybe a piece of rubber tubing under the front clamp.

doing a cable clamp like this is appealing as well. you can tighten it down so the shackle doesn't move all around
