Rusted cage.

Hello,

I just recently switched from a Kawasaki teryx to a Honda pioneer 1000-5. I had the teryx for over 8 years with almost 10000 miles. My Honda is a 2021 with 600 miles. I live in a northern Michigan and store the Honda in the garage. I have noticed rust forming on the welds on the top of the cage and in front of the dump box. Anyone else have this issue? I never had any rust on the Teryx. Maybe the cage was a different metal. I know it had textured paint compared to the smooth Honda finish. Just wondering if anyone has done anything to stop the rust or fix it. Thanks

Pics please - you haven’t rolled it or stressed the cage at the welds?

if it’s rusted, scuff it up, use a descent primer/paint and move on.

Not many reports of rusted cages on here.

Was it used? If it was who knows what happened or what was hauled in it.

Would help also for this post to see the rust you’re talking about. There are so many variables with rust, otherwise we are just throwing darts at your issue.

Sorry I forgot the pics. I live in Calumet, MI. I bought the pioneer used. I’m guessing the previous owner hauled a lot of soil based on the amount of mud in the seats. Here are the pics.

Wire brush it and coat with Rustoleum black paint.

Yours was made during the China Murder Virus, common on all makes to see this here and there unfortunately.
Like @ODAMO said, just wire brush it and put some rustoleum on it and call it good.

Seems to stop rust.

These land trusts are not what they seem, just go ahead and give your land to the government that you have paid personal property tax on your whole life.

Actually people from downstate with money come up and buy large tracks of land then put it into a conservancy so they do not have to pay property taxes. Once in the conservancy they must allow public access but limit it to only foot traffic. No ATVs or vehicles. ATV and snowmobile trails are slowly disappearing.

Yep you give it away and lose any control of your land and it would be a real insult to have to pay taxes on land you gave away.
