Hey guys, I'm interested in taking the ride from RB to windrock. I would like some advice for this trip.

Is it legal?

Any special permits other than the permits obtained to ride at RB?

How much fuel is needed?

Any maps or anyone know the way?
I pretty much know what to carry with me but I wouldn't turn down free advice. I carry a lot of tools, fuel, spare tires, valve stems, plugs, compressor, etc

Anyone want to join me? I'm thinking about a fall trip or late summer. I'll probably take the road back if we can park a truck at windrock and use it to ride back to RB and get all the other tricks and trailers.

Thanks guys.

I've been looking for some directions or maps for this trip. I haven't come up with anything yet. Another thought is a gps, I'll need a new one. The iPhone gps that I use is no longer supported.

I use Neosporin soaked cotton balls. They work just as good as petroleum jelly, and they double as an antibiotic.

They are different permits. I recently went to Windrock, and my TWRA/RB permit was no good.

I may be tempted to join you if the stars align... let me know what dates you are considering, and I'll start checking my work calendar.

I carry a 4 hr firelog. It will get wet wood going in a hurry. I'd probably take my 22 since I can't hit shot with my 45. Lol. Maybe a Mapp gas torch to straighten a tie rod, hammer. Compass, snake bite kit.

I'm guessing it's probably at least 1 night if things go well. Guy next to me spent 2 nights but had mechanical difficulties (polaris riders)

It's in Tennessee near Knoxville.
I'd like to try to get in on that if you don't mind. Do I understand that it's 315 miles in length? I'll watch for future postings from you on this. Can it be made into a two night event out?

315 miles? I have no idea. I just want to do it if it's still doable. I've heard people talk about it and I'm hoping to get a trip going. I would also prefer two nights but I don't care if it's one night.

This is an open invitation to anyone who wants to go.

I still need info like; directions, permits required, how many miles is it?, etc.

I don't think it's 315 miles, at least I hope not because I can't or won't carry that much fuel.

I got the 315 from post 2, but I think I misread it. 6 gallons of fuel in addition to leaving on a full tank should do it. I hope you get answers to all those questions.

Ok.... Someone go test all these trails. And thats not even 1/2 of them.
trail2

Better add a wolfsnout to your list....

Real quick mapping, I would say under 100 miles if you do not have to backtrack down a dead end or too rough trail.
