P1000 Reverse wiring

Is this the harness everybody is using for reverse lights, P/N 08Z02-HL3-A00? Does the black plug on the left plug directly into the unused white plug for power? Which of the remaining wires on the harness do you tap into for positive and negative for the lights?

The P/N you want is 08Z76-HL4-A00
That is just the backup alarm mount. What I want to do is wire reverse lights into the backup/reverse wiring harness without tapping into the wires. I've read on here that people are doing it with a wiring subharness.

If you want to use a dash switch as well you will simply need a relay to reverse the the polarity of the factory trigger wire to positive from that harness then just run that positive line to the dash switch. It's really nice to have both because then you don't need to be in reverse just to make use of your new lights, however reverse will light them as well.

That part number is the harness for the backup alarm , you just use the 2 wires that go to the alarm for your backup lights

Got the lights I want to use for reverse lights and still trying to figure this one out. If 08Z76-HL4-A00 is what I need, that's $30 so I'll just tap the wires if that's the case. I know I read on here some people using a $10 sub harness that is for the 700 but also works on the 1000. If I can avoid tapping wires for $10, that's worth it. Any ideas?

You do not need a harness. The reverse plug on the machine has a dummy plug already installed, to keep it weather proof. Just remove the dummy plug, install the wires from your backup lights into the dummy plug, connect and you are good to go. I did this on mine.

Push the two little plugs out of the dummy plug put your wires in the two holes, then bend the ends of the wire over and pull them back in the plug just a little. then tape around the bottom half of the plug and down the wire a little. plug back in and your good to go !

Or purchase the pin connectors and weather proof washers, as I did. I may have a couple of each if someone is desperate.

I finally got this done and now there is a high pitched buzzing sound that sounds like it's coming from around the plug. I thought maybe I had the positive and negative wires reversed but it does it both ways and even without any wires in it. I never noticed this before. Any ideas what I screwed up?

I've had my backup lights for about a week wondering about the plug. Saw that there was a dummy plug due to this thread. Thanks guys, it's so much better backing up with lights now!

No, that kicks on for a second when you turn the key and then it stops. This is constant while key is on.

I just did the same thing you did and now have the same noise, did you ever figure out what was causing it and how to fix it ?
