P500 Reverse Override

Just picked up a new p-500, was out plowing snow today ( yes it is still snowing here lol ) and wow is the reverse slow. Backing out the driveway was painful. I was reading about the reverse mod for the 700, will this also work on the 500? I would want to hook it to a rocker switch so I would only use this while plowing or stuck. Has anybody done this mod on a 500? Is there a plug and play for this? Any info or pics would be awesome thanks.

The gearing is what makes reverse slow. Reverse and "L" gear are what I call "tractor gears" - very very low gears. The machine doesn't limit the RPM's in reverse on the P500, as on other machines. There is really nothing you can do to make it go faster in reverse other than putting taller tires on it, and even that will make only a slight improvement.

Yep, that's exactly what it does. I don't think it would have hurt to gear it a tiny bit higher for reverse, but oh well. On the bright side, it's good for backing up with a trailer because it won't go very fast which makes it easier to keep a trailer from jack-knifing when backing up.
