P1000 Replacing rear drive shaft seal - any suggestions?

While cleaning my 2016, and removing the skid plate, I noticed the rear drive shaft seal has been leaking at the rear diff. I have the service manual, but want to hear from anyone that may have replaced this before, and can offer suggestions or recommendations.
want the easiest method to perform this job.

Everyone has always said... If it’s not dripping, don’t change it. Honda said it’s just misting, and that is normal.

My front has been wet for over a year but I've never had to add any oil to it. Unless you're leaking enough to add oil, I wouldn't change it.

The diff will drop out of the bottom of frame, you have to flip it upside down pretty much to get it out.

But like the other guys said, unless its dripping wet I wouldn't worry too much.

Mine is leaking from same place. Getting worse every ride. When I go thru deep water, water is getting in and diaplacing the diff fluid that is
dripping out more and more from that seal. I change diff fluid every ride which has turned into draining water and a little fluid and putting new fluid in again. How tough was it?

My front seal was leaking as I found a drip on the bottom of the sub-trans. It was under warranty, dealer found the leak to be the seal and replaced it. It was only making an oily mess when the wind blew it onto the skid plate but it was sooooo minor, the level did not go down when I checked it. Out of warranty, I may have just topped the sub-trans off and not worried about it.

How did you get that cap off to get to that seal

I got to mine too late. I changed the rear diff fluid after every ride until I figured out where it was coming from. Finally the gears expended and blew a hole through the bottom of the rear diff. I looked everywhere for a video of the process and never found one. I ended up finding a new OEM rear diff online for the $600 range and changed it out myself in 4 hours start to finish. I too have a 2016 P1k-5. The cost of labor would have probably been the cost of the new diff so I just did it myself.

How did you get that cap off to get to that seal

Takes patience, tools, and time. This was done 1-1/2 years ago, so do not remember each of the steps. You will be working in a tight and confined area. Raise rear of Honda and put on jack stands. Remove rear tires. The rear diff needs to be loosened (remove bolts securing to frame) and moved back some so drive shaft can be pulled out. I took out bolts holding the upper and lower right rear control arms to allow diff movement. Can't remember if I did left control arms are not. I pulled out the right rear axle, but don't remember if I needed to or not.

Boot O-Ring removed to begin sliding boot back to gain access to coupling

I used a puller to get coupling out, and it pulled off and bent cover, so assembly was replaced. Would probably been fine reusing it, though.

This is rear of drive shaft pulled out of diff once it was pulled back. I don't remember if front of drive shaft was removed or not.

This is diff input cleaned with seal removed.

This is coupling and cover removed. Plan on getting a new coupling/cover when replacing seal, as cover may get damaged when removing coupling from diff input shaft. The clip needs to be removed to take it out. May also need a new clip as this may be damaged removing.
