When people mount things on the rear rack, I often see the question asking what did you use as cushions to prevent noise, rattling, etc. I always meant to post what I use but keep forgetting. This is what I use.
Heater core hose. I cut it in 2" or so lengths then slice them lengthwise. They slip right over the rack and stay put.
