Looking for some ideas for a pre filter for my 1000 , I've seen a few that were thru hood , but i don't want to do that . Just trying to keep a clean look . The old OEM pre filter is worthless .

There are previous posts on this. Some used a rubber extender to move the filter up, center, and a few inches higher - since I'm in Nevada and unlikely to find a deep mud puddle (that's not already claimed by a half dozen ducks and other critters), I just put mine where it's convenient.

If anyone is interested in doing it the way @ToddACimer did it (his post), the link for the 3" tube is bad. But I found the same 3.0" ID aluminum tube on Amazon in 18" length (exact same mfg, exact same tube, longer), so you can cut it your 12.5" and 5.0" pieces out of the single piece: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C2HHZYKP?tag=sxsweb24-20

The silicone 90 °elbows & (2) clamps (need two of these elbows & clamp sets):

Snorkel head (price went up $12 right after I ordered the last one @ Amazon warehouse): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08Y5V53MB?tag=sxsweb24-20

EDIT: Just found it on Ebay for cheaper: https://www.ebay.com/itm/323955604755 or this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/254721373285

Extra clamp (1 needed):
or the one a few here have ordered:

I have mine set up the same way and it works great.
