Hey all,

Hooking up my ecoxgear speaker and it appears they direct you to hook straight to the battery. I always thought that was a terrible idea, any suggestions on how I should hook this up? Tap into a line that's accessory only/key only?

Also, those 40a grey compartments, are those fuses or?

Thanks for your input!

I would hook it up to key on power personally. Under the hood there is a key on wire already there that’s rated for 10 amps.

I’m not sure where to tap in the rear. (Phrasing??)

If you like to listen to music while parked much, I think it’s better to have battery direct (properly fuse protected) connection and not have the key on with everything powered up and the hour meter running...If you’re only listening to it while riding I don’t see that it matters. The club store has keyed on power harnesses....

Not familiar with ecoxgear.
Does it have a separate wire to detect key-on like some other radios do?

Those gray boxes are fuses. Don't mess with those.

It has an ACC wire however it still ties directly to the battery. Not sure what it is even used for. How does it defer from a normal power adapter?

Some radios... They have 2 wires. A power wire and an ACC wire.
The Power wire goes directly to the battery.
The ACC wire goes to key-on (or switched) power.
This allows the radio to only work when the Acc has power.

So... Primay power is pulled directly from the battery.
And the "turn on" function is triggered from low amp source.

Again.. I have no clue how Ecxogear works.
Didnt really find a wire diagram with a quick search.

I hooked it up directly to my battery and I disconnect the plug by the speaker when sitting at home for long periods of time. I plan on doing something different when I get off my lazy butt and do an actual electrical setup with switches that runs all my accessories but this will work fine till then.
