I haven't removed mine yet due to worrying bout my 6yr old calling out. But I've had a revelation of my own. I got some 3/4" square tubing laying around somewhere in the vicinity of the barn. I'm thinking bout making a skeleton door. It'll be safe enough to prevent fallouts and still be cool (temp wise anyways lol). What y'all think?

Tube doors would be awesome Delton! I might even borrow that idea.

Found this pic. Something like this would be simple to make. You could even skin them in the wintertime

Are the doors on the 1000 and 700 roughly the same?

I think that's a great idea! Are you planning handles as well?

It would have to have some type of handle. Knowing me, it'll end up being something prehistorically simple lol. Unfortunately I've got work all weekend. Working 13 hrs don't leave much time (or energy) to work on any of my ideas. I have a metal bender but it doesn't bend tubing. So looks like I will be cutting angles and welding. First I gotta remember what I did with all that square tubing lol.

Also, just a thought but put nets on the doors so no sticks will get in l. At least on your daughters side.

Lol yes you will. Buy for real, I would definitely put something in her side just for protection.

I went out and started kicking some thoughts around. The 3/4" is too small imo so I'm going with 1". Not sure how much I have of that laying around. Top tube will probably be at an angle like shown. I'm excited but don't have much time to work on it. Other members will have them installed long before I get done lol.

Definitely. There are lots of trees with nasty 1" long thorns where we ride. A net is a must.

Also look at wrapping the pipes in foam like pvc pipe insulation foam so if your knee hits it it will not hurt.

Another good point. Somebody with a tube bender needs to jump on this. Mandrel would be even better. My square tube is gonna look kinda redneckish lol. But I am planning to only use it when the offspring is with me. Maybe weld some drop in pins to the frame. So installation/removal takes about 10 seconds? I'm asking Santa for a decent tube bender for christmas this year lol

I like this idea, however since I'm about to have a full cage, adding tube doors will just add more weight for me. The tube doors will look cool though.

Be sure and post pics of that cage. I'd love to see it.
