I've been looking into gear reductions for our units. Don't think clutch is the problem after talking with many members on the Facebook page.
Found a possibility.
3.38 is the gear ratio for the front and back of the 1000 in he diffs.

Now the 700 is pretty much only a 2 percent reduction in gears if they were to be swapped out.

But the pioneer 500 has a front gear ratio of 4.08

If it's possible and the 500's front ring and pinion would fit in the 1000's front and rear that would give us our gear reduction we are looking for.

The gear part numbers for the 500, 700 and 1000 are identical except one number in each one

That would be interesting. However I find it hard to believe that the 500 and 1000 would have the same size gears. If it does have the same size, the P500 guys should never break one!

Let's hope they are the same.

Intriguing, I know you can't change sub or main trans gears, tolerances are too tight.

The 500 and 700 share front gear boxes BUT there's no locker in the 500 to make it narrower.

Maybe due to that you can fit the lower ratio gear?

Interesting. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say all 3 share diff parts. The part numbers are identical on all 3 except one number may be off.

If I called honda could they tell me??

I cant imagine they are the same gears there are so many differences in locking between them all. If they are the same I'd be concerned with the 1000 down the road. Out of curiosity has anyone broke a 500? I shattered my 700 but that wasn't it's fault

Really hard to tell without getting both parts in hand.

I have learned this over the years.
Honda part numbers break down like this.
xxxxx-yyy-zzz
Ex - 41431-HL4-A00 -rear gear ring.

X is the part type. For example the rear gear - 41431. Most all models share this part for the same type of part.

Y is the model it was made for. Ex. HL4 was made starting with the Pioneer 1000. Other codes were reused from other machines. Yet there are some variations.

Z is the manufacture or revision code. A00, it is linked to a updated part or change in manufacture normally.

Now.. This is what I have learned and been told. I'm sure there are exceptions and it may be wrong. But it's what I have gone by with success when switching parts.

hard to believe they'd install the same diff in the 500 as the 1000.... but if it's so that would be frikken sweet.
