Some dealers have the machine to cut keys, if you have the original key, it's easier. If not, you'll need the code off the switch.

Hardware stores and such could possible cut them, but it's hard with the way the key cover is made.

We usually like to have the machine so we can verify any cut keys work before sending you down the road with it.

I had a P500 key cut at a hardware store. If I remember correctly the dust/water cap is rubber and my key just popped out of the cap, so duplication is possible. In my case the key was overall longer, but works.

so it is OK as a backup.

The other option is to replace the ignition switch, I did that with a used P1K I picked up that only had one key

My spare set disappeared only to find out a couple months later that my brother thought they were for his Honda 4 wheeler and had put them in his tool box 🤣🤣. Went to Ace hardware and they didn't have the correct blank. Went to local locksmith same thing. Ended up at dealer cut me a new one in a couple of minutes. Think it was about $10.00

The keys for my P1K5 and Talons have numbers stamped in the shank below the dust cover. HOF has sent me various keys for all of my machines and they've all worked perfectly. John the parts Mgr at HOF is their go to guy for this. HOF is the most underrated Honda Parts source on this forum. From their Owner, Parts Department, Sales Force and Service Department, and the Gal in their Business Office are all amazing. Honda Tech aka Hello Darkness is also a key ingredient on their team. Honda should model their dealer model after HOF. I am in a similar business and always amazed with the ease of doing business with these folks.
