Absolutely. What you're hearing is the rev limiter, I believe is at 6800 rpm.

Hey @vinnie55 , through my testing I found there is a higher rev limit in the lower gears 1(L) thru 4th than there is in 5th, this was Mother-Honda's way of limiting the top speed on a short, narrow machine. It doesn't hurt the machine a bit to run it against the limiter in 5th. If you want it to go a little faster & bring the RPMs down at trail speeds we found a way to do it, click the link below. It involves tearing the rear cover off the engine to change 2 gears in the transmission.
