I ordered my Superwinch Terra 45SR from Amazon today, also ordered a snatch block and hook stopper. When it gets here the engineering/building of the mount will begin.

Let us know what you come up with. The Superwinch kit fits real nice and is easy to wire up. Might want to grab some wire terminal ends as the Superwinch cables are each a couple feet too long and it's easier to route them with the excess cut off

I liked the 35 Terra on the 500 so the 45 at the sale price was a no brainer for the 1000! Can't wait to see your mount!

I worked in the shop this afternoon using the dimensions on Superwinches site and have a couple ideas on the mount. One would weld to the current bumper and supports and would require re painting or powder coating the bumper. The other would bolt in attaching to the frame and bumper using U bolts. I know some on here don't like U bolts but they would be more than strong enough in this application. The bolt in mount would be heavier than a weld in. I'll rub around on this some more and see if I can come up with something else.

I think I want mine mounted up higher, maybe in front of the large opening above where the fair head bolts to the bumper. My buddy is trying to convince me to make a receiver mount so it can be used on the front or back. I like the idea but it brings up more issues. Where to store it? And if I'm stuck most likely the factory receiver on the rear is going to be hard to get to, so that will make for more fabrication.

I agree on the receiver mount, anytime you get stuck it will be on the wrong end or difficult to move to the right end

Yeah.. higher would be nice. I'm afraid I won't like the mounting point but unless I do a bumper, I don't see a better option.

My winch came today, finally. So much for two day shipping! Anyway the fab work has started and some of the welding is done, still more pieces to cut, fit and weld tomorrow, then the wiring.

Got some work done today. It's not finished I still have to bend a loop to go in front of it so the ends don't get knocked off.

That would have been a good way to mount a front 2" receiver

Perfect idea on how to add a 1 1/4 receiver to front end I have one on front of my rubicon with several attachments made for it that would fit perfect on my pioneer

I got to work on the winch installation a little after church today. Got some of the wiring in, but still have more to do. I have to pick up some terminal ends so I can shorten up the cables. Also I hope to get the bumper that will protect the winch bent tomorrow.

I finally got the bumper for the winch done and on today. I didn't have time to hook up the cables, mount the fairlead and spool the rope on. My middle brother and i took down deer stands today. We took one of our oldest brothers grandsons with us, he's 7 and we had a hoot.
