P500 Oil filter size

I know I need 10w-30 oil type but what size oil filter do I need and can I get this at my local auto zone store ???

I think you need to have a look at your manual !!

The oil filter is a Honda part and can be bought thru your dealer or several places online.
As far as the oil , you can't just pour any conventional motor oil in the engine , the oil
You put in there is for engine and trans/clutches !!!

I went with the Honda synthetic blend as I didn't realize they made a full synthetic... Have used it exclusively on the Honda Rubi ATV for years 'till it was stollen... Anyways I'm over...over that (bastarding, bastard thieves) now. Never a problem with the fluid drive tranny with 9000 Kms of severe service... Did I mention it was stolen and hope the theives roll it on themselves... Grrrr.

Lol. It's not a spin on (though we all wish it was) and it's not available at AutoZone. It's internal to the engine and one of the few untoward aspects of the P-5. It's also very tiny to be filtering four quarts of oil. But it is what it is. As Chooglin said, you better consult your owners manual. There's also a very good thread on this forum with instructions and tool/parts list for doing an oil change! Good luck.

If you're trying to save money or time, which sounds like you are, try finding a Tusk brand filter at Rocky Mountain atv for your 500. I can buy 5 tusk filters for the price of 1 oem filter for my 700 ($3 compared to $15).....so I do! That way I always have a filter on the shelf ready to go and I'm saving money.

Or 10w-40. That's what the Honda dealer gave me. They spec out for roughly the same temperatures.
Kinda glad I went with it for this summer, been hot as hell!

FL1A, drill and tap the cover on the passenger side of the engine case. Oil changes will become an 8 minute process opposed to the frustrating hour long job that it is currently.

Ok, just got back from Arkansas with your filter. Thought I had a o-ring set too, but no. If you're careful with them you can easily reuse them. When I'm next by the dealer I'll get you a couple sets, they're cheap. Anyway, I'll be mailing the filter to you tomorrow. Watch the mailbox!!!

Filters in the mail. What a goat rope that was. New customs procedures and forms here and the PO clerk hadn't used them yet and had to get a supervisor which hadn't much knowledge of them either. Got it done though no tracking available outside the US. Let me no that you received it.
