I'm doing both, just going to mount the dry box in a different place, it's a very good idea.

I use a dry bag for my phone so I can select music on the fly, I hang it on the 4x4 selector.. I considered one of those hard boxes but where & how I ride could destroy the contents of that box, it could go in a phone and come out phone parts.
