Lower Gears/Shorter Tires

I think the 1000 is a bit too high geared in Low, High, and Reverse. What if I was to get shorter tires? 26"? 25"? I believe Rangers are 25" tires.
What do you guys think?

It would definitely help the gear ratio. It would make it easier to get in and out of.

However, it would hurt off road performance.

If you went to 25" you would only lose 1" of g.c. but someone said it would drop gearing 7%.

Why do you think it would hurt off road performance? I had a Ranger with 25" Sedona Rip Saws and it did everything I wanted it to do.

it depends on you!! Only u. I wouldn't give up one inch of ground clearance for all the gold in for knox!!! my dad on the other hand he could give 2 s***s

If your needs are not compromised with slightly less ground clearance, I'd say go for it. It should give better gearing, lower center of gravity and maybe better acceleration.

I think you could gain all you said, but you'd also lose top speed and hit the governor faster in low range since guys are saying its speed governed to like 35? But even that might be negligible since the speedometer will be off less at slower speeds

Looks like if you went to a 25" your speedo would read 7% off. So when you're doing 35 you'd actually be like 32.5 and at 60 you'd be around 55.6

That isn't really the case, those 27" Bighorn 2 that Honda P!K is using are only 25.5" tall @ 14 PSI if you measure them. So dropping to a true 25" tire will be little to n difference.

Yea there not real bighorns! Non of them are. Except the ones you buy aftermarket!

This reminds me of some of the nikon scopes coming on some of the new riffle packages!!!! try and find a nikon like that directly from nikon u can't do it only found on the gun packages!!!! I asked my friend before I bought the 1000-5 about the bighorns when I was trying to decide weather to get the 1000-5 or deluxe he said real nice tire when I got it i parked beside his my tread was half what he had!!!

Will the aftermarket Bighorns 2.0 have more rim guard to protect the front wheel? Currently they look very inviting for sticks and rocks.
