Hello all,

Newbie utv owner from Northern BC. Been lurking for a little bit enjoying the threads, lots of good info here. Just picked up a 520 few weeks ago. Have installed the Honda hard roof, front bumper and a warn 4500 winch and wind screen. Side mirrors have been ordered.

Curious what you all have for light bars and where ya put them. I’m torn do I put a 40” just under roof lip or a smaller one on the bumper or.......... Oh and if anyone has built a custom soft canopy for the dump bed would love to see that. That’s my next project after lights.
Cheers W.

I put a 12" light bar on my front brush guard (avatar picture) it focuses all the light on the road in front of you.
Some people that mount light bars to their roof have them damaged by low hanging tree branches.

Similar to @Swampdog I chose to mount light below eye level. When driving in dust, rain or snow, I find that having the light below eye level is easier driving as you are not looking through as much reflected light. You might also consider an LED headlight upgrade similar to JDM Astor 881 LED bulbs available on Amazon and likely through Canadian suppliers as well.
Here is a link (post #36) giving you an idea of the difference in OEM and LED lighting:

Here is where I mounted my light bar on the Strong-Made front bumper

Good luck!

Thanks for the pic and info on the LED bulbs. Will definitely look into that. Also good call on the dust and snow blindness with light being up high. Had that issue with top lights on an ole CJ5.

I am also struggling to decide where to add rear lights to our P500. They would have to be lower than the roof, we have to deal with a lot of low hanging trees on the trails we ride.

Lots of options on the P5. I mounted mine on a piece of flat stock using one of the roof clamps on the EMP roof, it’s about 3/16” below the roof.1B1B8939 6F34 4FD9 89D7 44CD59532617F0374E88 E346 4B18 B3D6 B78776C207B3

I found a couple of Jeep brackets on amazon for the front windshield cowl. It is the same angle (almost) as the rear Orem Honda roof. It also bolts to the existing roof bracket bolts. I had to add a second hole in each bracket. Very strong and stays below the roof line

I agree one of the only complaints I have about my P500 is bad factory lights. I also put my light bar in the bumper space.
I also need to upgrade the light bulbs to good led bulbs. I haven't yet because I have Mudbuster fender flairs on the front and they cover up the back of the headlights making getting the bulbs out hard. I will probably take my dremmel tool and cut out the access on my Mudbusters.

Being from fl. I know about low hanging trees. I have a tray on the back of my p5 so if I add rear lights attached under the tray to shield from trees and weather.
