P1000 Leaking rear diff fluid

Hello, I recently bought a 2018 1000-5 LE and have been very happy with it so far. However, I recently noticed a drip of oil coming from the driver side rear axel area. It looks to be leaking from where the axel meets the rear diff. I’ll attach a pic. It seems to be a very slow leak. I’ve opened the rear diff fill and it still full and fluid looks great. Is there just a simple seal I need to change? I’ve tried searching with not much luck. Thank you!

Better look harder. 9 out of 10 times its the axel boot running down looking like its your diff. If your diff is full, check the boot!

I will look harder, but wouldn’t it be grease rather that oil if it were a torn boot? I’m aware that’s probably a dumb question.

To answer your question, Yes there is a seal, it is quite easy to change if you're comfortable pulling the axle

There are seals in the rear diff one each side where axles go in . Other than leaking and you having to keep a check on fluids it will absorb water if/when it gets under water and get into diff which will eat up the gears .
It’s not an easy or cheap fix , it requires removing everything to place a new seal and you better do both sides while your at it

hi - clean it all up with brakekleen, dawn\hot water and see if you can locate the source - the grease inside the boot gets hot and can liquify a little so no big deal - you aren't going to break anything with a weeper

changing the seal is easy - just get the axle out it its the seal

best way to buy a seal is online at Ron ayers, partzilla, motorsport under neath oem parts - but lets not get nuts here till we know whats leaking

Not a dumb question.
Yes and no to grease. Its warm right now and the littlest of grease can thin to oil.
My only concern is that tour diff fluid is full.
I would pull the axel since u have to do it anyway and inspect both the axel boot and seal. Hard to fix it or tell u exactly what wrong without being there hands on it.

I appreciate all the help and quick reply’s. I’ll clean it up tonight and inspect the boot/ see if I can locate where it’s leaking from to order parts. Sounds like a fairly easy job either way. Again thanks for the help!

Buy the seal from Honda, either your local dealer or online through some of @DRZRon1 suggestions. I'd suggest becoming a lifetime or supporting member of the site, then you can download the factory service manual, it will walk you through it step by step.
