P500 Is there a trick to putting the air filter Holder back in ?

When I go to slide the air filter Holder back in over the the top of the air filter it feels like something is going to break .
I there a trick or easier way to get it to slide back over the top of the filter so It is not as difficult ?
Maybe put a dab of oil on the plastic to make it slide easier ?

the air filter system on the pioneer 520 is a dissapointment. i would like to throat punch [repeatedly] the person who made it so difficult to put the air filter back in place without trearing the new air filter in the process.
the foam hangs up and tears on the plastic where the oil breather rides against it. piss-poor design. [just my opinion]
