So, I have a Samsung Tablet e from Lifetime Trail Maps and it tracks well and shows all the roads, but it is SLOW to load.

I noticed OnX has an off road app now and it seems nice. I see Hatfield McCoy trails that look like they are mapped pretty well. It is much faster as it's on my iPhone X, has all the same roads. I can download offline areas and use just as the Samsung does without service.

I have used OnX hunt for a couple of years and it is great.

Anyone have experience using an iPad for GPS tracking like the Samsung units?

Gaia gps app works great but your iPad either has to have cell capability for the gps chip to work (does not have to have service) or I think you can get an external gps.
@Kilo427 has found a sweet system.
I agree the Samsung tablets just don’t have the smoothness or speed of an iPad.
