It's much quieter. I've owned both and speak from experience.

I can't believe how much quitter the P1K is even over the little P500, you can actually ride and talk normal most of the time.

I may be biased, but before I bought my 1000-5, I drove the 700-4 in the dealers lot area and was over whelmed by the smother and quieter ride of the 1000-5. Not to mention the ease of entry in the 1000-5 (which is critical for while hunting elk, need to get out fast and acquire a hunting shot). There are a lot of road hunters in my elk area and they take up the road in their dually trucks. I will have the force with me in my smaller pioneer street legal 1000 deluxe. Ha ha.

The 1000 is much much quieter. Better. Especially at speed the 6speed doesn't rev the motor near as hard. Motor mounts are better. The only time you can really hear it from outside is after it passes you. You can sneak up on people(I've done it to Polaris guys to show off) the 700 was quieter the any other machine I've been in but the 1000 is a whole different animal

Hi, thanks for the post, i see you hark from Spokane... Have hunted whitetail up by chewelah for over 35years, shot a 6 x 5 again this late season. And speaking of cummins, I have a ram 5.9 diesel dually for hauling our rvs, I love it, great engine, never had problem. Bought in 06 at Dave smiths in Idaho. Happy trails

I just bought a 2017 Pioneer 1000-3eps. In my driveway the engine sounded loud at idle. Revving it up started a whirring sound. I didn't want either noise. I installed engine compartment high heat and sound deadening material (from eBay, $25) on as much of the rear plastic cover as I could under the bed of the vehicle. I was careful not to cross any covers splits or fasteners. This material is aluminum foiled and self stick. I is rated for 2500 degrees F. The difference is shocking! Idle is very quiet, and power is less pronounced. Still a whir, but without a doubt less. An easy, cheap fix. The cover for the air filter gave the most payback. Didn't have to take anything off. Just add and enjoy the quietness nature demands.

I have the 700 and the 1000, the 1000 is very quiet, shifts gears quicker, so less high rev noise too. My 700 seemed to get “louder” after I put the windshield and roof on. The sound reverberates more for passengers inside (it is quieter for people outsid as you drive by).

I’m not happy with the noise of the 700, but at 9,300 ft elevation, I can’t afford to lose HP with an exhaust silencer.
