Impact trailers (made by Formula) - Opinions?

Yes, I know, second trailer thread, but I'm looking for opinions or experience with a specific brand of trailer.

Looking at an Impact Trailers 7W x 16L x7H tandem axle cargo trailer with the UTV escape hatch. Specs look great, 16" OC tubular everything, triple tube frame, 2x6 triple tube tongue, screwless exterior, one-piece aluminum roof, electric brakes on both axles, 24" stone guard, V-nose, 3/4" HP floor, 32" radius side door, sidewall flo thru vents, LED dome lights, D-rings, stabilizer jacks, aluminum wheels, rear flare w/ LED loading lights, and a 5-year structural warranty. The only downside (depending upon how you look at it) is that the frame is steel and not aluminum, but it's undercoated. It weighs 2,350#, which is comparable to most aluminum trailers in that same size and configuration that I've looked at.

This is the Shockwave model, which is their premium model (of 3 total models of cargo trailers built).

My understanding is that Impact Trailers was bought by Formula Trailers a few years back. I've always been a fan of Formulas. To be honest, the damn thing looks almost identical to Formula cargo trailers - nearly identical to their premium model, the Triumph.

Has anyone had experience with either Impact or Formula cargo trailers?

(No, it does not have a red stripe - that's the reflection from the trailer next to it. The one I'm looking at is black with the "Blackout package".)

My take 8 wide 16 depth and 7.5 tall V nose.Forget the side door.Limits you were you can park.Rear door if you pull up you can unload.To each there own.

How much do these run?

The one I have being held for me is priced at $11,600. MSRP is about $2K more. He said they lowered the price because they don't sell many enclosed SXS trailers (e.g., UTV escape door) in the winter.

My problem with going that wide and/or tall is my truck. It's a 2021 F150 5.0L Platinum 4x4 SuperCrew 6.5' bed. I just think that's too much trailer for the F150. Hence, the compromise with width/height and the escape door.

My last truck was a Super Duty Powerstroke, but I'm not paying $19,000 more today for the exact same truck in a 2023 (or 2024) model vs what I paid for the first one back in 2017.

Checked out Becks when I bought mine in '18 and they did have a huge selection of nice trailers. Maybe it was just the guy I got but he was a D bag and wouldn't deal. Gave me his best OTD price, told him I was going to check out US-27 first but might be back. Drove a mile down the road, wrote a check and towed it home. He blew an easy sale.

That’s a different opening side door than what’s sold around me. At least with this one you might not have to step over the fender.

Around me, the side doors swing to the front of the trailer…same as your buggy in the trailer. usually they can swing open the full 180. It looks like this door swings up? I’m going by what appears to be two latches on the bottom of the door, one on each side.

Maybe it's just me but........... that looks like a fancy $5K or $6K side hatch door 🤷 besides that it should be a $8K range trailer

That’s a different opening side door than what’s sold around me. At least with this one you might not have to step over the fender.

Around me, the side doors swing to the front of the trailer…same as your buggy in the trailer. usually they can swing open the full 180. It looks like this door swings up? I’m going by what appears to be two latches on the bottom of the door, one on each side.

It swings up and out of the way. Hinged at the top.

The UTV escape hatches like that are typically a ~$800 option, depending upon the trailer manufacturer.

MSRP on the Shockwave (their premium model) for that 7x16 TA is $12,070 before options.

Impact and Formula are the only enclosed cargo trailers that I have found that have a 5 year structural warranty (have looked into a half dozen or more brands).

Doesn't surprise me at all. I didnt buy there. I called them once about a trailer and the guy was a complete D bag as well. Prob the same dude

I checked them out as well (didn't talk to anyone). They carry Legend trailers, which are pretty good but spendy. Their overall prices seemed higher than most others.

Closing this thread up with: The rear door height of the Impact I was considering was too short for the Pioneer.
