Hey, this is my first sxs ever. I just had my 2020 1000 dropped off and went for a toot around the yard. All is good, but when stopped and idling there is an engine vibration. No to bad but it’s there. As soon as you give it a bit of revs it gets silky smooth. Is this normal??

Enjoy it, it’s got a 270 degree phase crank - makes it a lil lumpy at idle.

Skinny pedal down and the shifting clunk will be normal to ya after a couple of miles.

Ya, it’s the unfamiliar noises and operation that makes me question if I bought a lemon for a second lol. Like some kind of gear whine when going slow?? Is that normal?

Yes -

To make yourself feel better - check engine and sub-transmission fluid.

If you ever drive an old 4x4 with a transfer case - it should Feel and sound like that is what I can reference ya to. Herky/jerky is normal - no belt in between - after a few miles and a few hours you will get used to it - we all have - lol.

The gear whine is due to Honda's choice for using straight cut gears in the sub-transmission. Straight cut gears allow the gear box to be smaller, lighter and more efficient...three of the main reasons that many race car manual transmissions use straight cut gears. The only downside is the characteristic "whine" that comes with it. There's nothing to worry about, nor is there anything that can be done about it. It's just the way these things sound! :)

I believe every gear in the drivetrain is straight cut including the ring and pinions.
I rather like the sound of it, along with the shifts. Very visceral.
