P1000 How many cranks to start?

When I first brought my P1000 home it would fire right up when I hit the key. Now it has to crank over 5 or 6 times before it fires up. Currently has 30 hours on it. Sound normal? Dealer says it is but I know mine is the first one they sold so I'm not too sure about it.

@AppleCreek Welcome to the Club, and congrats on your Pioneer 1000, you have nothing to worry about my P500 will crank 4 to 6 times before it light and sometimes the first round. Been riding Hondas nearly 40 years and they have all been a little cold natured when first being fired up.

Mine cranks over 3 or 4 times then starts. I have about 25 miles on it now but I did a cold start test about a week ago I left the pioneer outside it was 14 degrees out in the morning and it cranked over like 3 times then started. I am gonna do a below zero test next to see what happens.

Thanks Jackal, I was getting nervous. Once it gets started it is a sweet ride. I've been looking at getting a SXS for years. I'm glad I waited until these came out!

Mine is in for first service as we speak. Just under 100 and close to 20 hours also. I have been covering ground slowly with a lot of starts and stops. My machine is just like yours. It doesn't start instantly. It takes a few turns to fire it.

Same with mine, 3-4 cranks. I thought it was odd at first because it seemed like my old 700 would start the minute you touched the key. Maybe thats normal. I know my friends Ranger cranks about 4-5 times and always thought that was odd considering how fast the 700 started.

twin cylinder vs single cylinder? P1K and P700 sharing the same starter?

My P500 takes 3-4 cranks, occasionally more. Seems excessive but just how it is I guess.

These new electronic machines need to see oil pressure before they will allow spark, that's why they crank a bit. Just a little more protection.

Thats interesting you mention that, I changed the oil last week fri. Put in 6qt and 6oz's of HP4S full synthetic, and since then it has been starting almost instantly.

Was it low on oil from the dealer??
Did I have a tank of bad gas?

I dont know what it was but it starts now in a crank or 2. Can oil make a difference in starting?

Your full synthetic flows better when cold than semi synthetic, thereby giving you quicker oil pressure.

F. When I did my below zero test it was like -8 or -9F and the pioneer cranked a lot slower but started. I store it in my heated lower garage so I don't have any problems starting it. I would not want to start it outside every day in below zero weather.

My 1000 cranks very fast, my P500 cranks fast, My 2015 Rubicon different story , It sometimes takes 3 to 4 times before it will ever crank, been that way since brand new, got 300 miles on it now and still takes forever to crank, brought it in for fuel injection problem and dealer said it was normal for it take long time to crank

My oil was low from the dealer. I suggest to everyone that they check all their fluid levels after taking delivery.
