June 20, 2023
HISTORY
Originally introduced for the 2014 model year, the Pioneer 700 was the first in Honda’s now-expansive Pioneer family of capable rec/utility side-by-sides. From day one, it was offered in two- and four-seat configurations, and for 2017 Deluxe versions of both were introduced, with features like aluminum wheels and electric power steering. For 2023, Honda added a new “Forest” trim level and made important comfort- and convenience-oriented updates across the platform, nearly doubling storage volume, adding tilt steering, redesigning the front-door-mounted beverage holders to hold tumbler-sized cups, and more.
TRIM LEVELS
To satisfy the needs of every customer, the Pioneer 700 platform comprises three different trim levels—from the standard to the top-of-the-line Forest—each of which is offered in two-seat and four-seat versions.
The Pioneer 700 platform stands apart thanks to a number of comfort-, convenience- and style-focused features, as well as Honda’s renowned fit and finish.
The heart of the Pioneer 700 is its proven 675cc fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, overhead-valve, single-cylinder four-stroke engine, which is mounted longitudinally for maximum drivetrain efficiency.
Occupying a middle ground in Honda’s rec-utility side-by-side lineup, the Pioneer 700 is capable of carrying loads and passengers, but also of navigating in tight spaces, all while offering a comfortable ride.
Updates include:
- Upgraded power steering.
- Addational storage
- Bed lights for some models.
- Front accessory ports.
- 12v Bed Outlets for some models.

TRIM LEVELS
To satisfy the needs of every customer, the Pioneer 700 platform comprises three different trim levels—from the standard to the top-of-the-line Forest—each of which is offered in two-seat and four-seat versions.
- Pioneer 700 Forest: To enhance the driving experience on the trail, the Forest is outfitted with an extended-coverage front bumper, a 4,500-pound Warn Winch, dual bed lights, in-bed 12V outlet and an additional 3.9L of under-dash storage.
- Pioneer 700 Deluxe: Improving overall versatility, the Deluxe version features black aluminum wheels, electric power steering, in-bed 12V outlet and dual bed lights.
- Pioneer 700: Featuring the numerous platform-wide updates, the standard version is the most value-oriented option in the line.
The Pioneer 700 platform stands apart thanks to a number of comfort-, convenience- and style-focused features, as well as Honda’s renowned fit and finish.
- Dump bed for convenient unloading of dirt and feed, as well as simplified cleaning.
- Ample storage volume, including a large glove box and additional under-dash storage.
- A tilt steering wheel enables fine-tuned comfort, in addition to simplified vehicle ingress and egress.
- The front-door-mounted beverage holders are designed to hold tumbler-size cups.
- A wire harness is pre-wired for simplified installation of Honda and aftermarket electronic accessories.
- Also to facilitate clean installation of electronic accessories, pre-wired switches are integrated in the dash.
- The Pioneer 700 Forest and Deluxe versions have a handy 12-volt accessory receptacle in the bed, enabling use of electronic devices like coolers, work lights, food warmers, sprayers, air compressors and more.
- The Pioneer 700 Forest comes standard with a 4,500-pound-capacity winch for removing obstacles and providing peace of mind in rugged conditions.
- A large dash meter allows great visibility.
- For locating gear in low-light conditions—for example, selecting a fishing lure—the Pioneer 700 Forest and Deluxe come with dual bed lights.
- The Forest and Deluxe come standard with black aluminum wheels, while the standard versions have steel wheels.
- To customize the vehicle to owners’ needs, there are over 76 accessories for the Pioneer 700. Examples include a snowplow, a glass windshield and a GPS, part of a wide range of options available to adapt the vehicle to specific applications.
- Deluxe and Forest versions come with Electric Power Steering that increases torque assist, optimizes handling and features a “Return to Center” function that improves responsiveness and reduces steering effort.
The heart of the Pioneer 700 is its proven 675cc fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, overhead-valve, single-cylinder four-stroke engine, which is mounted longitudinally for maximum drivetrain efficiency.
- Automotive-style automatic transmission with hydraulic torque converter, three forward gears and Reverse.
- Forest and Deluxe versions feature a transmission that can change between manual electric-shift mode and fully automatic mode via a toggle switch; the automatic mode can also be overridden on the fly, using steering-column-mounted paddle shifters.
Occupying a middle ground in Honda’s rec-utility side-by-side lineup, the Pioneer 700 is capable of carrying loads and passengers, but also of navigating in tight spaces, all while offering a comfortable ride.
- Aluminum wheels on Forest and Deluxe versions.
- Painted plastic on Forest and Deluxe versions for a striking look and a durable finish.
- On four-seat versions, Honda’s QuickFlip seating design offers the versatility and adjustability of two-, three-, or four-person configurations. The seating arrangement can be quickly and easily changed via folding, stowaway rear seats, providing full bed space and tilt function while in the two-person configuration.
- With the same overall dimensions of a two-person design, the Pioneer 700-4 versions maintain a high level of maneuverability while still being able to seat up to four people.
- Long-travel suspension (7.9 inches in front and 9.1 inches in the rear) provides a plush ride.
- Rugged, aggressive, exciting styling.
- Load capacities of up to 1,000 pounds hauling, 1,500 pounds towing.
- Design incorporates proven Honda technology for legendary Honda reliability.
