Honda Pioneer vs Honda Mini Truck.

My new neighbors have a Honda Mini truck and a decked out Ruckus. I forgot to ask what year it was. It is road legal, right hand drive, 4 wheel drive, smaller and faster than my Pioneer 1000.

I have one of those mini Jap trucks, but not the Honda brand. 3 cyl engine, 4 WD, does good, but not nearly as good as the Pioneer.

My brother imported this retired fire truck from Japan a few years back.

He originally started with a flat bed.

Now it has a removable box he had designed.

I had the Daihatsu version (1993 model) for 12 years before selling it and moving to the Pioneer 500.

It was a great truck. I put a 2" lift on it, upgraded the front springs and put 25" tires. In the years that I owned it, I did have to replace the fuel pump and carb, but it's basically a 3-cylinder car engine. It's very quiet, can carry a ton and can really climb. I loved the windshield and wipers in the rain. Parts were readily available because there's a guy up in MO (G&R Imports) that has a bunch of used and new parts and can get parts from Japan.

Here's what I didn't like: I'm 6' and was just a little too tall for the leg room. After 12 years I kind of got tired of it. I wanted to replace it with an ATV, but when I saw the 500, I thought it was perfect. Not too big, like the Daihatsu, but a little more leg room. I'll try it for a few years and see how it goes.
