It has a 2 part Air Filter!
Honda claims the Air filter does not even need to be inspected until 1800 miles at which you only need to clean the sub air filter.
At 3600 miles Honda requires the filter to be replaced.

There are 2 oil filters!
The engine oil and filter needs to be replaced every 1200 miles.
The DCT filter only needs to be replaced every 2400 miles.
The sub transmission oil needs to be changed every 2 years.

Outside of those 2, it looks the same.
I have been told this thing is going to last just as long as your Trx300. With that kind of oil schedule I can see that coming into line!

If that's true the cockroaches will have something else to ride besides the TRX300 while eating twinkies after we're all gone.

Thanks to HPK for forwarding the info.

Did we get any definitive numbers on the hubs bolt pattern?

Going in for my first service tomorrow. I think I am going to have them change the Sub Transmission oil also. Just don't like the idea of leaving that oil in there for 2 years. Especially after initial break in. Anyone else change their Sub Transmission oil during the first service interval?

I changed everything at first service including both differentials.

Ya, that just makes more sense to me. We are not talking about gallons of oil or huge amounts of labor here.

You are correct. The subtrans is only another 1.3 Qt. of 10w-30 oil and both differentials combined are just under 1 Qt. as well. So I would just rather do it and be rest assured that extra $20 I spent on oil was for good measure.

How strict are the requirements for the initial service? I have 75 miles on mine and 11.0 hours. I am waiting for them to call and tell me my new trailer is ready to pick up so I can take it to the dealer for the initial service. If I reach 100 miles or 20.0 hours do I have to just sit here to avoid messing up my warranty? This s a bummer with company visiting next week.

My dealer told me to put at least 150 miles on it before I brought it in for the first service. I ended up with 189 when I took it in. It seems to differ from one dealer to the next though. Just give them a call and see what they say.

Don't be too concerned on exactly 100 miles, I was away riding and didn't get to mine until a little over 160 miles.

Getting ready to do the initial maintenance on my P1000-5 deluxe. My Honda dealer says do this at 150 miles. My owners manual says do the service at 100 miles. What do most people recommend?

I think the service reminder will illuminate on the dash when it's time. I could be wrong about this for the first initial service but I thought it did.

Either one is fine, the service wrench is set to come on based upon engine hours not miles, Also note the engine hours timed by the service wrench is not actual engine hours but hours the key is turned on. I had my P500 key on a lot installing accessories listening to the music on the soundbar. My initial service wrench came on after the key was on for 20 hours but only had 7 miles on the machine, all the Pioneers are the same in this regard. So the wrench is not the bible to go by if you have the key on a lot and engine not running FYI.

I believe oil and DCT filters are unchanged on the 1000 across the years. Should be good using what they list for 16 & 17
