No, haven't used them. However, I've worked a fair amount with UHMW-PE, making skids and liners for my tractor mount snow blower. The material cuts and machines with wood working saws and tools. It machines easily on lathe, mill and drill press etc. It heat bends with heat gun at around 200 degrees (it'll start turning translucent when ready to bend and it must be held in position until cooled a bit. Since the material is not inexpensive, it's a good idea to make initial patterns from cardboard or whatever.

UHMW advantages. Mechanically the strongest plastic. Impact resistant (1" will stop a .45 ACP round), slicker than snake snot on a flat rock (a little less slippery than Teflon, but a lot stronger).

I misspoke earlier. The bending temperature is around 290-300 degrees. You can tell when it's ready as the white plastic starts to get translucent.

Another thing, especially when working with larger pieces, UHMW has a higher thermal coefficient of expansion than most materials. For this reason, mounting holes on bigger sheets should be larger than the fastener with larger washers so the material won't break small fasteners or bulge up in the middle if fastened at both ends. I fixed the entry end to my snow blower impeller housing firmly in place and slotted the exit end with fasteners just snug to allow for the changes in length with temperature.

would mos def buy the SATV if they went up higher and came inboard more. seem small considering the impact areas that stick penetration seems capable of happening in.

open to being better informed.
