P700 Hitch Support?

Hey what's everyone think? I have read others have had issues with the hitch "bending" up either by using an implement that requires a downward force or by hitting something. I printed a pattern of what I am thinking of fabing. Also may add a second receiver. Would probably weld angle directly over stock receiver. Probably use 1/8" or 1/4 plate.

Used a piece of 1/4" aluminum that I had as scrap (hence the threaded hole). If you use anything thicker you would need longer bolts. What's everyone think? Hopefully it will stiffen up the hitch area for upward forces.

I have not thought that far ahead. Not sure if there would be enough to market or if price would be worth it. How many have interest?

Would the aluminum plate really strengthen the 2” receiver hitch when it isn’t fastened to it?

I would at least weld a 2” long piece of steel angle to the top of the receiver tube and then bolt it to the aluminum plate.

Yea. There's some older threads on here if you use the search you will find them. I did this on my 700. I never used the hitch hard but mine had started to crack. The problem is when there in an upward force applied to the hitch. For example if you have a ball mount in and cross a deep enough ditch then the ball could hit the ground and push the hitch up. I think it would mostly be solved if honda welded underneath like I did.

Interesting, thanks I have had that happen to me already, IE hitch drag from a deep hole.
