P1000m5 Help with Elka stage 3 and 30" tire

Maybe I'm asking for too much from the P1000-5.
Last year I added Elka Stage 3's and new rims and tires. Tires are Tusk Terrabite 30x10R14.
I currently have about 5 1/2" of space between the top of tire and the mud buster flaps. The rear suspension is scrubbing on the muddbusters in whoops and hard banked turns.
I have tried adding preload but it doesn't seem to help and now the rear is about an 1" higher than the front.
Any suggestions before I take the shocks in to test the charge in them. If the shocks are properly charged I'm guessing my next move will be to change out to stiffer springs.

It sounds like you increased the tire size and made the wheel well smaller.
It doesn’t matter how you tune the shocks or what spring rate you run the tire will always hit when the suspension is fully stroked.
The suspension is a system, it is difficult to change one part without some negative impact to another.
You can bump up the ride height and increase the spring rate until the rubbing is at a level you can live with.
If you try to lift the rear suspension you run the risk of over angulating the CV joints.

Sounds like you need a “Talon” conversion kit.

Yes, Elka built the shocks according to ride style and the weight provided by me.

My 30s rubbed with stage 4 Elkas, I added Superatv rear arms and they still rub. My front tires rub too but I like the ride as is without additional preload

The issue isn't the Elka Shocks, or the Springs, or the pre-load setting. The issue is the tires, If you run 28" tall tires your scrubbing will stop. That is your most efficient route, to run 30" be dammed count on spending another $800 on custom A-Arms to offset forward and backward for the front / rear respectively.

I say the problem is the bed.
With stock tires and FULL suspension travel I bet the tire will rub the bed.
That is why my Pioneer doesn't have a bed. (not really the reason but it sounded good!)

OK so @Surveyor lift you bed 2" with spacers and they won't rub in the front either

i have the same setup. had the same issue originally. I went back to elka and got stiffer springs, added a little preload, and now it only rubs occasionally when im really loaded down in the back.
I had originally specified my shocks with no additional gear or rider weight in the back.

Yep ur Asking too much.This has been answer d a thousand times. 28 to 29” maximum.depending on the tire manufacturer

I'm glad you aren't having any issues with the 29's. I have Elka stage 4's and just bought 29" Maxxis Carnage tires. I will do the arms if necessary, but I don't beat my machine up on trails so I hope I don't have rubbing issues.

Thanks. I haven't had any issues in the front. I do have offset front arms though.

no problem. it does ride a little stiffer when unloaded now, but still an acceptable ride. ill try to remember to get a measurement on the preload i have on it. i probably could unload it a little bit and still be ok, i just havent played with it after my initial guess

Looks like those springs are 350lb/in
Mine are currently 275lb/in.
I'll definitely try get the stiffer spring.
Not sure if they need different valving for that increase.
