I understand. Some of the GPS units have a monthly service you can pay for that allows satellite based text messaging so you can keep in contact without cell service.

I don’t think this unit has that. If it does I’m not aware of it or even how to set it up. I’m not saying it can’t but, if it does I’m not sure how to use that feature
