Hello All,
Have an issue with rear Fox shock install. On-line instructions say reservoir should face forward. Youtubed it and got the same answer. I tried that and the reservoir hits the brake line bracket and put an asshole in it. I turned them around with the reservoir to the back of the machine but I'm afraid the reservoir will bottom out on the A arm. The box these came in say for 1000-5 which is what I have. See pics and please advise.

I put a set on a 3 seater and a 5 seater last week. The 5 seater faces to the rear and the 3 seater faces to the front. The 1st pic is the 5 seater.

Did the shocks for the -5 models change recently or something? Every-5 model I see with fox shocks have the reservoir to the front. Including Todd’s machine on this forum. I’m not doubting you at all and agree these shocks will absolutely not work with reservoir to the front. Did you notice a difference in the -3 and -5 rears? They aren’t the same part number.

Not trying to be a smartass, but what if you swapped them side to side?

I dont even know how I ended up with them turned the way I have them. I never even paid attention. I just made sure but he sides was the same. My front and rear could be different also. I'm not home now but will have to look when I get back. I put the 1s on the 5 seater and while I took it for a spin my son put the 1s on the 3 seater. So who knows. Lol

I’ll sure try it. If it mattered you’d think they would mark some way or another. One more clue is there are white dots on one side of the shocks. I have the dots facing out. Online Honda instructions are identical for 3 and 5 seater and say reservoir to the front.

Another thing I noticed I you guys are showing way more thread at the top of your shocks than mine. I assume you made a pre load adjustment. I didn’t see any instructions for those adjustments.

Yes mine is over a inch of preload on the rear. Buy the wrench from ebay that I linked earlier.

Okay, had a dumbass attack. My first thought was to switch them side to side but I thought they were identical and not mirrored. Switched sides as Honda Tech suggested and all is good. TripleB, I suggest you do the same before you beat the bottom out of your reservoirs on your A arms.

Thanks
Tim

Its dumb that there not marked left and right. But then again I did install some Talon side skids Saturday that said to install with the mark forward and there was no mark to see. Guess how man time I had them off to figure it out.

I took a look at the official Honda instructions and they list the shocks as left and right as well as telling you which way the reservoir goes.

I will look into it tomorrow but I dont think they will hit anything the way they are. Everything I do I have to do it at least twice to get it right. Oh well lol
