How important is it to actually check your valves on the first service?

I switched oil and sub trans to mobil 1 racing 4t full synthetic. I plan to try a little heavier diff oil to see if it quiets down the gear a little i know the oil change smoothed out my shifting and seems overall less noisy

My thoughts on the valves are at 100 miles they havent even had enough heat cycles to matter

Are you asking a question? Or just thinking out loud?

Both lol

I am interested in what people think of the valve check at 100 miles

I feel it's unnecessary and more of a second service 600 mile item

The same question has crossed my mind several times. My VTX1800 was supposed to have valves checked and adjusted at 600 miles according to Honda. But the shop manager told me I should wait until I had a few thousand miles. I took it in after 5000 miles and it only needed minimal adjustment. True the pioneer 1000 is a different power plant, but I'm not sure 100 miles is enough either.

They checked the valves in mine and it was fine.. I wouldn't worry about it unless I was having some issue.

That's my thought too. I don't see a reason to unless you notice a problem. I've got a couple thousand miles on mine and still haven't checked, I haven't had a reason
