Image Here is a picture with the valve cover removed. Dealer said my valves did not need adjusted. Has anyone had to have theirs adjusted?

I thought there were more than two valves per cylinder? I think those other lobes are for the intake valves.

Maybe someone will clear that up for us. I don't have time right now to search for the answer.

Good answer but my quandry would be why there isn't wear on those lobes also?

Good thought, maybe we can't see it. Or maybe there are only two valves per cylinder.

It's a 4 valve unicam head like the MX bikes. The cam is over the intake valves with shims for adjustment. The exhaust valves are adjustable the with adjusters. This engine should have around 100 hp on the Sport models and rev to 10,000 rpm.

Thanks @hondabob. I figured as much but hadn't checked yet.

So... In other words... Forget about adjusting the intake valves. Unless you have a issue.
The entire cam needs to come off for that to happen... Then you install shims.
There is 51 different shims available so pray you pick the right ones.

I hope that means that when/if a tuner of some sort comes out, those will be some possible power and revs we can hit!!:D

Is this the reason for the total lack of wear indicators unlike the exhaust cam lobes? Thanks for clarifying the first part.

With the low miles plus the position of the cam its hard to see the intake ramps. This engine will probably rev to 10,000 rpm or more in the sport versions. Most won't use the sport mode unless they are drag racing or riding the dunes. This engine is impressive and set a new standard for the utility market. The trans is amazing. You really have to be on the ball to shift better then the auto mode.

when I first looked at it I though the same thing, why are there extra lobes? Took me a minute to realize there were 4 more valves under the cam. As a word of warning if you do it yourself the valve cover is a bear to get reseated. He had to redo it as it leaked the first time. There are 2 alignment pins that have to be hit just right. There is not much room to work.
