Doing some riding in the woods on my property and have some spots that toss you into the body as well as the roof.

Any one did any exoskeleton tubing mods to the Pioneers? Tree kickers are on the horizon but was curious about anything else people have done.

I am dying to get this thing in my shop and fire up the tubing bender, but it will be mid spring before the current project vacates the space.

Thinking about a tree kicker for the roof. From the A pillar back to the b pillar.

So far the factory hardtop has held up, but I am afraid it will eventually crack.
Would love to get something around the front fenders as well.

Thoughts?

The factory hard top is pretty tough. I've slid mine down trees quite a bit with basically no wear and tear. I've only cracked one piece of body work so far and that's outside the headlight surround outside the driver headlight. Sucks the whole grill and front end is one piece.

The factory hard top holds up pretty well actually. We finally replaced ours a few months ago (a roll over finally took it out) but we are very hard on the roof, actually use it continuously to keep the rig upright or pivot around trees. Being that plastic it slides nice and keeps things from binding up. I think JTW has used his as much as the skid plate lol.
We’ve messed up all the plastics but it’s used to split trees apart to make a pathway. Until recently I didn’t realize just how reasonable the plastics are and especially the front fenders, they are too cheap to even worry about protecting in my opinion.
Some things would be nice to protect but keep in mind an exo would be about 4in wider minimum, that would be that much tighter in the woods and a huge surface to get snagged around on things. The weight would obviously effect the handling characteristics as well.
This is why I wouldn’t do an exo but I’m aware that different people ride in different places and are looking for different things.

I just looked up a front fender.... my dealer has them for about $20!.

You may be right. Be cheaper to replace plastic occasionaly.

My suggestion is to beat the holy hell out of it, replace the plastics if really bothers you occasionally and if you go to sell it make everything pretty again. Also there are plenty of places online that sell that stuff for up to 25% off of dealer.
That machine does absolutely incredible at breaking through the woods, probably the best out there given it’s weight and ability. It’s flat down the sides so very little to break off or snag. It’s just a beast. Kinda fun walking around sometimes and looking at the scars as great memories. I recently replaced all my plastics but looking forward to the new memories.

I have 2” wide UHMW down each side and it protects the roof no damage and I always use it as a slider. 80/20 nuts hold it on. @joeymt33 buddy had the idea.

Later I’ll load some video of today and show you what I mean. The UHMW just slides on trees it doesn’t deform the factory top at all.

I just rode with my new exoskeleton last weekend and boy do I love it. Trails I used to have to back up on a few times, are super easy now. Just get the front wheels past the tree and turn into it. Bars do the rest. Best mod iv done

Well can’t argue with that.. that’s real nice.

Thanks man I love it. Wish I could have done the same on the rear but I wanted to keep my back doors in use, so the bar above the bed sticks out the same as the rest. It will help every now and then. Also love how the bars over the fenders keel the mud down without worrying about breaking a 200$ set of mud busters

Thanks man works better than I thought. Didn't we talk in another post about being top heavy or was that someone else?

Ohanacreek...is that 550 cord tied to your front bumper and then going back over your roof? Wondering what is it's function?
Limb riser it helps protect the windshield and some limbs it will lift so they ride the roof instead of slapping me in the face.
