Polaris has had a EV for around 10 years. There are a few more now ranging in price from $10,000 to $80,000. The $80,000 Nikola weighs over 5,000 pounds and probably still not in production yet. It will be interesting to see if Honda will produce their Pioneer 500 size EV. It may take another 10 to 20 years before there is an affordable sport model from Polaris, Yamaha, and Honda.

I live in south utah, and have occasion to go further south yet- that takes me down into the las Vegas valley where the brown crap in the air plugs up the sky. Just came home through Phoenix and Tucson and the sky looks a lot the same. Have any of you guys noticed something similar close to you? I do believe that the feasibility and cost of any project have to somewhat equal the benefits , and i also believe that the climate is changing- feel free to debate why that's happening if you like. I know i like blue sky and breathing air that doesn't hurt my throat, but maybe some of you guys have different values. Electric "stuff" may not be an answer, but it can be a first step. Fwiw i made a lot of money in the timber industry and i full well understand the unwillingness of the preservationists to consider anyone else. Am i hearing the same thing here?

Those angry pixies flowing through the lines to charge the batteries are coming from somewhere. Those used up batteries no longer able to take a charge are going to end up somewhere as well. I'm not going to pretend to have all the answers. It's far more complex than many want to think about though. Ultimately if I'm firing up a fossil fuel powered generator in the middle of nowhere to charge my electric SxS....wouldn't it be more effective and efficient to just put the fuel directly into the tank of the SxS and get back to riding?

If wind/solar/hydro were the only sources of the angry pixies then sure it might be "clean" energy. The reality is coal, natural gas and nuclear are far bigger players in the power grid. Right, Wrong or Indifferent that is the current world we live in. Just because the vehicle itself doesn't emit emissions doesn't mean they weren't created to power it. Hell by the logic of some (not pointing fingers at you or anyone specifically) I could go off grid if I just run an extension cord from my neighbors house. Sure their bill goes up, but then I don't have one so I'm not contributing to pollution when I run my AC or whatever. Obviously that isn't really true, but I swear some people think it is.

Did you know that the current “green” technology actually increases our use and dependence on oil?

I’m speaking as a pragmatic Engineer who can see that 3+7 equals 25 in the eyes of the average brain washed non-critical thinking “environmentalist”.

We had a customer with an EV Ranger, we were building a Mule FXT for him.

He said the tires wouldnt go anywhere and if you put more agressive tires on it, the machine didn't have the ass to spin them.

If auto manufacturers havent gotten it figured all the way out yet, its going to be decades before powersports guys to make it happen.
