Not so much as they have fuel injection, there is some loss but not terrible. I've been over 12,000 ft and everything ran just fine. can't wait to go back.Does high elevations like Colorado mtns effect P1000 or other Honda sxs's

Thanks for reply trying to plan a trip to Colorado .Not so much as they have fuel injection, there is some loss but not terrible. I've been over 12,000 ft and everything ran just fine. can't wait to go back.
Sounds good but a lower gear for us game stockers would help too. Like to crawl thru the woods and observe?Another thought, turbo vehicles don't see the same power loss. Their power loss is less than a percent per 1000' I believe. With that said, let's all put turbos on our pioneers!

Where I hunt elk, mostly thick woods, when you run into elk while on trails , they will not spook until you turn off the rig or climb out. Keep it running and they generally just stare at it. That applies to bulls also.Very true. The lower hearing helps slot too
I agree with franzwn lower gear for crawling around. Thanks for replies on this.Sounds good but a lower gear for us game stockers would help too. Like to crawl thru the woods and observe?
So you could be Fred Flinstoning it in a P500??The rule of thumb is 3-4% power loss per 1000 feet for naturally aspirated engines.
With this rule of thumb the P1000 would lose approx 26 horse power at 12,000'. It would still get around easily with its 12 available forward gears. It would still have close to 50hp.
Now, the P700 would lose like 13hp which would net that vehicle only ~23hp. That's why it suffers at high elevation.
Disclaimer: the Jack has come out already so this is rough math.
