Just installed $79 cargo carrier (now 1/2 off at Northern Tool), left off the 2 inch receiver hitch piece. Thought I would have to cut the receiver bar off, but it was a bolt on. Good fit for rack, 49x22 1/2. Should be easier to wash off the mud than my wooden box.

NEW THREAD TO COMBINE IDEAS ON BOXES. P500 - Post your rear rack/boxes Pics.

Looks great, I just ordered it tonight for my P500. A lot lighter than the wooden one I was going to built

@Zombeaver also had a good idea with using a dock/utility cart/wagon basket with fold down sides, sold at Academy Sports or Tractor Supply, see post at bottom of this page, Cargo basket and skid plates.
UPDATE, seems like the wagon cart fold down sides are very flimsy according to @Zombeaver post update. Nice to have a sxs forum to share and learn.

Anyone else end up installing this box? If so how did you attach it?

Mudder,
The Stongmade basket came with 4 clamps that clamped the Honda rack. I bolted the basket to the Husky box and moved 2 of the clamps to the box and 2 to the rear of the basket. Have had no problems at all.

For anyone interested in a lower priced alternative, Northern Tool has a steel basket on sale. Similar to the aluminum one I got above, bet you could leave off the hitch tube. Black paint might look good on rack, but hard to beat that aluminum one, easy to clean underneath.

Hey @Mudder I installed the Husky box using four 10-32 pan head machine screws, fender washers and lock nuts (all stainless) - drilled through box and rectangular frame 12-3/4 inches from inside of box on each side. Nuts under rack are a B to get to due to tight clearance, but mount is solid and can be removed if needed, I didn't want to use U-bolts and have studs and nuts on inside of box to catch on stowed items.
The screws go through the two outer rectangular bars just inside of the 45 on rear.
The box is a great place for tree saver, extinguisher, tools, two half helmets and some other items.

Looking at either adding the Strong-Made basket or one like you got if it will fit under the overhang of the box.

@DaddyDubbs , did exactly as you did. Yes, the nuts were a Pain! Like that 48 inch Husky box, future upgrade on next sale. Got that unique 2017 green.
