So I have decided to adjust the height of the boxy cage of my pioneer 5 seater. I know I ma going to do 4 4.5 5 front to rear. I also know that I am going to be doing the B pillar at the top above the cross brace. I have looked through the treads and this seems to be a common way to approach it. I want to leave the headrests in. My question is when taking into acoount the welds where the cross brace is attached to the pillars is grinding the welds or cutting them more or less. Kinda looks like starting by making the bottom cut on the outside might make removing that section a little easier. Open to any suggestions

This is what I did, allowed for a good length of sleeve for extra support.

Thats how I want to go about it. My concern or question is did you grind or maybe cut the welds first before cutting any of the pipe on the upright?
I cut right above it at my mark. Then cut out the welds along the headrest tube gusset. Once I was able to remove that I sleeved it and reassembled.
