Hey guys, wondering if anyone can help me out here. I put brass brake pads on in 2018 and have been happy with them. They lasted much better than the OE pads that came on it from Honda.
But, I don't recall where I bought them. They were from Nissin. I tried searching the part number on the web and their site, but no luck.
I ended up ordering the ones from ExtremeATV, but the pad itself is very thin, prob 1/8" max. I could swear the Nissin ones for at least 5/16" thick or more.
Anyone know who carries the Nissin ones?
Pictures are the ones I received from ExtremeATV. Ecfc0136b2601ef12b808a3c3011fd98Dd5c21518de7a80cdb5b93cb1cf73e3c

Here are the old ones (Nissin) side by side with the new. (ExtremeATV)
Old have a little more than 3 years on them
Front
Old liner .155 - New liner .115
Pad left .051 New Pad .185

Rear
Old Liner .155 New.115
Pad left .175 New pad .185

Notice the old have squealers and locating pins (pins must be for a different application, they don't engage with the caliper anywhere)

Those Nissan pads cant be brass. They look like normal brake pads.

The number on the back is the material the friction pad is made of i believe.

Edit: Nevermind the number doesnt seem to mean anything? 🤷‍♂️

Those look like stock ones to me? They are the same ones I get from my honda dealer?

They definitely are brass. I took some emery cloth to it to show the color underneath. But, you're right. That part number doesn't even show up on Nissin 's website. I did find one post on an mx forum that references that part number, but describes them as semi-metallic.
What's also weird is, I am certain that I found the source for the pads on this forum back in 2018. But cannot find many posts about brass pads for a P1K except the thread about the ExtremeATV pads.Edd12c0811b39e751a00617842a7b71b

Those are normal pads, no large company is gonna make a straight brass pad stopping power with brass pads are horrible they go from nothing to full lock up and they chew up rotors pure brass pads are used for people that do nothing but mud I wouldn't ever put brass pads on a trail sxs. And I do alot of dumb s***, I've made my own brass pads when I use to be broke all the time lol. also flipped a atv forward on pavement with brass pads and it hurt like hell

Those are stock pads. The solid brass pads don't have the divots in them. That color is what oem pads look like.

I put them on myself, they are not OE.

The ones in your picture are an OE pad for something, Nissin never has and currently doesnt produce a brass pad. They only supply OE powersports solutions.

Those may not be an OE Honda pad, but I guarantee if you tried and scrape some material off that pad it'll be fibrous, maybe semi metallic and not solid brass. The only pads i've seen made of brass are either machined from and entire block or glued to a solid backing plate.

I got 4600 out of my first set of pads so I put honda right back on it

Whoa.

What kind of riding do you do? On my trails with frequent sandy puddles and mud holes, I'm pushing it to get 1500 on a set.

I was wondering the same thing. I don't even get no where near 1500 much less 4600 lol and I use the paddle shifters to slow down when I can.
