Just curious, what kind of life are people getting from brake pads?

I was out last weekend and the squealing was getting under my skin, I just figured they were loaded with mud ... so I pulled the front calipers to clean them out and the pads are toast at 662 miles. These pads are OEM in a 2017 700-4, so I wasn’t expecting them to last forever, but 600 miles caught me by surprise.

I sold mine at just under 9k miles of desert and the pads were still in good shape. I've also seen "mud" guys get 100 miles from a set. All depends on what you ride.

If you're in slop, 600 is reasonable.

Ya ..... I seem to find myself in the slop often. Thanks for the info.

clay and sand mud 100-150 miles for front. back one usually lasts about 3-5x as long as the fronts. doesnt matter what kind you put on so just go with cheapos. honda big red front brakes have thicker discs than the pioneer. lasts a hair longer for the same price

I’m on my second front set. First set at 600 miles, second set at 1250 miles. I ride mud and hills. I keep a spare set on hand from D2MOTO for like $20 a set. I’m at around 1400 miles and my rears are still original. ;) I can tell they’re getting low by the level in the brake fluid reservoir.

That sandy mud really tears them up. I’m ok with changing pads once a year. You probably can change them quick by now. ;)
