Good morning. Really need to change the color of my red plastics.
Have made a query to our UTV graphics contact, but also in the discussion is painting or coating with bed liner.
Paint seems to delicate frankly and I like the bed liner option, and several here have done it with some success.
Reached out to TCPglobal.com who makes Raptor, Custom Coat and Gorilla bed liners.
Rec'd the following regarding UTV plastics and adhesion: "the plastic is "Polyethylene" which most ATV plastics are, then that type of plastic has adhesion issues even with the use of a plastic adhesion promoter. (However) For prepping other plastics Abrade with 180-320 grit. Clean and degrease. An adhesion promoter is required for proper adhesion".
1. Can anyone advise if Honda body panels (not blow molded black body, just panels) are Polyethylene? or different?
2. Anyone have tips/tricks/recommendations for good adhesion of truck liner or a durable coating over Honda plastic body panels?
Prefer a matte or flat final finish and reasonable hardness simply to make cleanup easier. Some bed liners are really grippy and are very difficult to clean mud from. some are very shiny, and inflexible and easy to clearn. Seems there are tradeoffs either way.
Thanks for weighing in!
