I’m installing a winch on my 2016 P1K5 and will power it with a 2nd battery. I have also installed a True Dual Battery Isolator but don’t really know where to ground it....can I run it to a frame rail and ground it? Or can I run it to the main battery negative post? I do not have the pre wired ground like the 2017 and up models. I am a novice at this so any tips would help. Thanks

As long as it' a good ground. The ground you run to the winch contacted will work fine.

Sorry for the newbie questions but I’m trying to learn as I go...I’m confused on where and how to ground the 2nd battery and the winch....I’ve seen others say they ground it at the same place as the main battery. Would running a ground from the 2nd battery negative side to the main battery negative side be the same thing? and what gauge wire to I need for the ground?

Yes ground both batteries together( main to aux). Use wire that's equivalent to the size of the winch wires.

Also I noticed a red and a black wire coming from the rocker switch....do I just run those to the 2nd battery? And does it need an inline fuse?

Run another ground back to the motor mount where the stock battery is. You cannot have too much ground!!

What gauge wire? Is the stock ground easy to access?
I used 4.. I think Honda is running 6.

Yeah.. 10ft will do it.. just shove it down the firewall by the intake and up under the seat.. cross to the drivers side and the motor mount is right there. If you’re running a winch and other accessories eventually... do it once and do it right.

You ran 4 gauge wire for a ground?

I ran 2ga from my spare battery to each winch. It should really be larger if you’re going off of a 100% duty cycle at 300amps each winch, but a winch is not a constant amp draw it’s shorter duration use sort of like a welder. You can use a smaller gauge wire (to extend your working reach from a hardwired plug) depending on the duty cycle of a welder because the wire and the welder have a chance to cool off.

So I finally got done with the install of the winch....hope it’s right

-Blue and yellow wires from winch to contactor

-Green wire from 2nd battery negative post to Factory ground location

-Negative from 2nd battery to contactor
-Positive from 2nd battery to contactor

-Positive from 2nd battery to Isolator
-Positive from main battery to Isolator

-Ground from Isolator to 2nd battery negative

-Red and Black wire from rocker switch run to 2nd battery (Red wire with 10 amp inline fuse)
