What is the best way to do maintenance on the air filter? Thank you.

Once dry. ...put it In. A walmart
bag...oil the s*** out of it..
knead it in...not rough..or will
split the seam..of it glued...
together...I'm in the dust..
Always...so do mine...every
week....
Keep air & oil clean....
p5 will out live.....YOU

Just thinking . if the stock filter needed to be cleaned weekly , and the other didn't need cleaned as often , wouldn't that mean brand x isn't collecting / stopping as much dirt ?
Cleaning it sucks...
but it's part of it...
don't take long....
very effective. ..
...was rasied..with not alot
of stuff...so wat I got..I take care of..
not..sayin others dont....
cleaning it..not peachy. ..
but...the Riding ...very
much so..

You would think that, but the K&N filter has fins giving it a lot more surface area. I don't know the exact figures but it's probably 4 or 5 times the surface area. I also run a pre-filter over top of the K&N.

Haha, yeah I know. The prefilter is so easy to install and clean. It's just like pulling a stocking over your face before you rob a bank. It's so quick and easy to do... why not? :D

I bought a second foam filter that I swap out after an oil change. Having a snorkel on helps tremendously with it not getting as dirty as where the stock intake is. I throw mine in a bucket of HOT water and one of those cascade platinum dishwasher pods let it sit for a while and it comes out like new! Oil it up and good for the next round. Lots of good ideas on here. Everyone has their preference. Good luck!
